The American Geophysical Union meeting is a large scientific conference that occurs annually. It used to be exclusively in one location, but began to rotate over the last decade. For 2023, it is back San Francisco to help celebrate 50 years of the society meeting.
As any attendee can attest, it is a big meeting with lots of great presentations and opportunities and hard to catch it all.
AGU talks are rapid, with 8 minutes for slides and 2 minutes for questions. So presenters need to be ready to concisely tell the story of their work.
It was an honor to be an invited speaker for the Soils in the Anthropocene session. It was a packed session with excellent talks from the old guard as well as new up and coming scientists.
Poster sessions are also a wonderful way to convey the findings of research. I find them often times more informational as it is a two way dialogue about the premise and feedback on interpretations and data.
